Total Holiness

Isaiah 29:15
Woe to those who deeply hide their plans from the LORD, And whose deeds are {done} in a dark place, And they say, “Who sees us?” or “Who knows us?”
I am far from being considered a neat person. Sadly, my house is almost always dirty. I try to keep up with it, but as of yet I still have not disciplined the total discipline necessary for the task. What this means is that when I ahve company, I must scramble to clean up. Like the student who does not study til the night before, I have to cram in my cleaning as quickly as possible. Often times I do not leave myself enough time to clean the whole house the way that I wish. So instead of leaving it out, I find either a back room or a closet, and I throw everything in it. Luckily, I can just keep the door closed and my guests are none the wiser.
Many times we have our spiritual lives in the same way. We have a hidden room that no one knows about, and we just hope and pray that no one ever opens that door. Maybe its anger, jealousy, lust, pride or any other sin. But it is our secret compartment. We try to keep everyone from it. The problem with this is that just because the mess is hidden does not mean that it is not there. While people may think we are neat and tidy, the closet reveals our true nature.
As Christians we must strive to make sure that we have complete holiness throughout our lives. While other people may not be able to see the sin our lives, but God is not the same way. Every door to every room is open to God. He can see absolutely everything about our lives. All is laid bare before Him. In the end, such attempts at hiding are fruitless, and maybe even counterproductive because we sometimes hide from ourselves. Instead of just trying to hide, we must be diligent to have our house clean and order.
Woe to those who deeply hide their plans from the LORD, And whose deeds are {done} in a dark place, And they say, “Who sees us?” or “Who knows us?”
