All the Pieces
Spiritual Growth May 28th, 2009
During a terrible ice storm, the electricity went out in my small town. Since my parents had a generator and small heater units, some of my family and friends gathered at their house to keep warm. Without a television or gaming system, we had to revert to a more primitive forms of entertainment: a puzzle. We worked long and hard on this large puzzle. It tested my patience quite a bit. But I was excited to see the end result. Unfortunately, this was not a brand new puzzle. We were all quite upset to find out that the puzzle did not have all the pieces!
Luckily for us, the Lord does not leave us in a similar predicament when it comes to life. It would be terribly frustrating if the Lord gave told us that we had to complete our lives, but did not give us all the information to do so. Instead of toying with us like that, He has indeed granted us everything we need to know. We have all the pieces we need to live a righteous and godly life. It is within our grasp to complete the puzzle.
However, just like with the puzzle, it takes diligence on our part to complete the task. God gave us all that we need, but what we need is found in the knowledge of Him. We learn about Him through His word. We need to be seeking Him in His word, diligently studying it and finding the applications for it in our lives. If we are willing to apply ourselves, we can make the puzzle match the front of the box.
