Hebrews 9:27
And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this {comes} judgment,
My wife and I live in the top story of our apartment building. One night there was a storm, and as I turned on the television, I saw that there was a tornado watch. My wife is very spooked by tornados, and asked me where we should go if there one touched down. While our best bet would probably be covered in the bath tub, I figured that if a tornado hit our building, there was really no safe place for us to be. There was nothing we could do to stop it.
We want control. We want backup plans. We want the power over any problems that may arise. That is why insurance is so popular. You hope that you never have to use it, but if worse comes to worse, it is there. It gives you the ability to handle the situation. The problem is that sometimes there is no insurance. There is no back up plan. No matter what we do, we have to face what happens. There is no recourse. That can be hard for us to accept, but periodically we are put in situations where the reality hits us in the face.
It is important to realize that there is no getting around the day of judgment. There is nothing that can get us out of its way. The day of judgment is coming, and on that day all will have to stand in front of God. It is inevitable. Nothing we do or say will stop it. However, there is something we can do to find favor in God’s eyes on that day. We can obey His commands for salvation. Since we cannot stop the day of judgment, we need to make sure that we are prepared for it.
And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this {comes} judgment,

Following God’s commandments and making sure we are prepared for Judgment Day is the best insurance policy that there is.
