Proverbs 31:28

Her children rise up and bless her; Her husband also, and he praises her,

Today is Mother’s Day. It is a day in which everyone takes a special notice of mothers around the country. It is an important event. Mothers need to be recognized and appreciated for all that they do. It is said that families are the building blocks of societies. When the family unit starts to falter, so does the society. One of the primary building blocks of the family is Mom. Her role to the family is critical, and without her, a family struggles.

Mothers do so much work for the family. Their primary goal is to meet the needs of the rest of the family, often times at their own expense. They are the emotional caretakers, making sure the family is treating each other well, and healing the unseen wounds from the outside world. They often times take care of the physical needs of the family. Like the Proverbs 31 woman, they rise early and go to bed late taking care of all the tasks that need to be done. They travel as far as necessary to get what is needed. They will go to almost any length to take care of their family. They truly represent the servant heart.

It is important for us to realize the work that mothers do and to give them a special thank you. That is why today is such an important day. It is sad when a mother feels unappreciated due to neglect from her own family. After all she does, they need to offer her recognition. That recognition shouldn’t be limited to one day a year, but should be constantly recognized and praised. As wonderful as physical things are (and they should not be ignored), the best gift we can offer our mother is to show them that we continually appreciate all they have done for us and all they continue to do for us. Thank you, mothers.

Her children rise up and bless her; Her husband also, and he praises her,
