Galatians 6:7

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap.

There is a poster in a classrom that reads: “Watch your thoughts, they become words. Watch your words, they become your actions. Watch your actions, they become your character.” That poster makes a strong point about the importance of each and every aspect of our life. Each thought we have, every action that we take has long term consequences. That is why we need to be so careful in everything that we do.

We are always changing. No one is staying the exact same. Each and every decision we make impacts who we are. Let us look at the idea of lying as an example. Everytime someone tells the truth, they are reinforcing truth telling in their lives. They are ingraining that habit deeper and deeper. Unfortunately, when they lie they are doing the same thing. And as powerful as habits can be, if an honest person starts lying enough, they will eventually change their character into that of a liar.

That is why we have to constantly on guard in our spiritual lives. Every time we do something we can grow closer to God. At the same time, we can also grow farther away from God. We need to make sure that we are sowing to the spiritual side and encouraging it to grow. Do not be decieved. If you sow physical seed, you will find your character has become physical in nature. The actions that you do right now determine who you are in the future.

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap.
