Psalm 46:2

Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change And though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea;

      People always think that the sky is falling. Their latest crisis is the end of the world. A great example of this is teenagers in love. When their heart gets broken they think they will never be able to love again. People on the outside realize that their will be other loves and maybe even other heartbreaks. But for the person in the midst of it, they think that life can not get any worse. Yet they are not the only people who lose perspective on how difficult the current situation is.

     Every day we see examples of this. The media use their daily news shows to tell how the latest market drop or political situation means dark and evil times are here. Our co-workers, friends and families often lose perspecitve on their own situations. Have you ever listened to someone complain and wonder what in the world they are so upset about? However, we ourselves can be found guilty of the exact same things. We think that the end of the world is coming at the slightest signs of trouble.

     We need to realize that we should not worry or despair so much. Not only are things rarely as bad as they seem, but servants are God should not fret if the end of the world were to come. The Psalmist here talks about calamaties of a cataclysmic nature. Yet even if the “sky was falling” and the end of the world was upon Him, He would not fear. Why not? Because He has God. With God, we need not fear anything great or small that may happen to us. We can trust Him to deliver us no matter what the circumstances are.

Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change And though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea;
